Reverend Peter Tierney is the pastor-in-charge of St. Mark and St. James Episcopal Church in Woonsocket. Prior to arriving to the city in 2015, Peter was the pastor of St. Andrews by-the-Sea in Little Compton, RI. He previously served as associate pastor for Christ Church in Needham, MA. He and his wife, the Rev. Dr. Veronica Tierney, met while they were preparing for ordained ministry and were married in 2007. Veronica has her Ph.D. in theology from Boston College. She is the pastor of St. Matthew & St. Mark in Barrington, RI.

Peter is a native of the Finger Lakes region in upstate New York. He was a very active in youth ministry and the Christian summer arts camp sponsored by his home parish. He received his B.A. from Hobart College, Geneva, NY and attended seminary at Yale Divinity School, New Haven, CT. He wrote his master's thesis on the divine inspiration of the Scriptures. Peter and Veronica live in Woonsocket with their two Portuguese Water Dogs, Liza and Frazer.
